Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, and a happy new year…and a very big thank you for following and reading this blog!

We shall resume again in January with The Prodigal Son, working through to the end and Praise we great men before the month is out. Then I shall (hopefully) offer some thoughts on Britten’s legacy, his recorded output of other composers, and publish a couple more interviews – with tenor Ben Johnson, conductor Paul McCreesh and oboist Nicholas Daniel, and hopefully a representative of the Britten-Pears Foundation. And then that will be that – and there will be another composer awaiting his fate in 2014.

So again, a happy Christmas – and to celebrate, here’s a Spotify playlist of Britten getting all Christmassy.

Don’t forget ‘Burning Fiery Furnace,’ a high point from the comparatively dry late 60′s period.
